Accreditations
Less than 1 per cent of the world's business schools hold both Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation—and Gustavson is proud to be one of them. Accreditation is our promise of accountability and continuous improvement. You will see this reflected in our programs, research and more.
Since 2011, Gustavson has maintained AACSB accreditation. The AACSB is one of the highest standards of quality assurance for business education and scholars.
EQUIS is a leading international system of quality assessment. All accredited institutions show high quality of:
- internationalization
- responsible management
- close interaction with the world of practice
Gustavson first received EQUIS accreditation in 2007.
The UN PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) initiative asks us to adapt what we do to advance sustainable development. You see the results in our curricula, research, teaching and strategies. Gustavson joined the initiative in 2009. We became an Advanced Signatory in 2014 and became a PRME Champion in 2019.
CEWIL Canada (Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada) partners with post-secondary institutions to champion work-integrated learning. The University of Victoria first received CEWIL accreditation in 2012.

Points of pride
Fully carbon neutral since 2017
Gustavson began tracking its carbon footprint in 2013. In 2017, we committed to offsetting our Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions. We are one of the first business schools – very possibly the first – in the world to be carbon neutral. The Carbon Neutrality Plus Committee continues to explore how Gustavson can reduce its emissions, while offsetting what we do emit.
94% of required courses included sustainability content
In 2022, 65 out of 69 required courses included content on sustainability. Our BCom, MBA and PhD programs each have a required course dedicated to business and sustainability. This is in addition to deliberate integration of sustainability content throughout the curriculum.
