Corporate Knights’ Better World MBA Index ranks the Gustavson School of Business in top 20 globally for 5th consecutive year
November 10, 2021, Victoria, BC – The Gill Graduate School at UVic’s Gustavson School of Business has been lauded once again for its MBA program’s leadership in sustainable business education by being named to the 2021 Corporate Knights Better World MBA Index for the fifth consecutive year.
Consistently at the top of the ranking among business schools in Western Canada, Gustavson is #18 overall in 2021.
The annual ranking evaluated 147 MBA programs from around the world to determine the top 40 programs. MBAs are evaluated for developing business graduates with a holistic sense of purpose, who are equipped to build a more inclusive, environmentally sustainable society.
“We are pleased to be ranked among the top 20 business schools in the world for sustainability for the fifth year in a row,” says Saul Klein, dean of the Gustavson School of Business. “This fall our new MBA in Sustainable Innovation welcomed its second cohort of students to our curriculum designed entirely around these ideas, but the Gustavson School of Business has been leading the way with sustainability-integrated curriculum, research and ethos for more than a decade. This consistent success in the Better World MBA Index is in keeping with this long history.”
UVic’s MBA in Sustainable Innovation focuses on giving students the right skills to drive positive change as responsible leaders of the future.
The Better World MBA Index evaluates schools across five key performance indicators: the number of sustainability-focused articles in peer-reviewed journals and citations (30% and 20% respectively), the number of core courses that incorporate sustainable development topics (30%), research institutes and centres devoted to sustainable development issues (10%) and faculty gender and racial diversity in the business school (5% each).
