Peter B. Gustavson School of Business ranks fourth in Canada on global Corporate Knights Better World MBA Ranking

Oct. 17, 2017, Victoria, BC – The Peter B. Gustavson School of Business has ranked fourth in Canada and 21st in the world on the annual Corporate Knights Better World MBA ranking, which evaluates the integration of sustainability practices, research, and teaching among the world’s leading business schools.

The Corporate Knights ranking is evaluated based on the incorporation of sustainability and corporate social responsibility throughout a school’s core courses, leadership in the field of sustainability, research, and external engagement.

“We are incredibly proud of our ranking, which highlights our commitment to all four of our school’s pillars – sustainable, innovative, international, and integrative,” says Saul Klein, Dean of the Gustavson School of Business. “In addition, Corporate Knights’ vision for integration between business and social responsibility is also part of the ethos of Gustavson. We both firmly believe that business thrives when doing well and doing good are both taken into consideration.”

Sustainability and corporate social responsibility are deeply woven into the Gustavson School of Business masters’ programs, which include the full-time and weekend MBA, Master of Global Business, and the customized MBA for TELUS. These programs, along with the school’s involvement with the Centre for Social and Sustainable Innovation (CSSI), National Consortium for Indigenous Economic Development (NCIED), Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS), and upcoming inaugural Victoria Forum taking place from Nov. 17 - 19, 2017), have – at minimum – a 20 per cent incorporation of sustainability theory and practice in course content.

Finally, the annual Gustavson Brand Trust Index (GBTI), launched in 2014, measures more than 6,500 Canadian consumers’ opinions about 294 corporate and product brands across 26 categories. The survey assesses consumer levels of brand trust, including the role of corporate social responsibility.
