Professor Mia Maki recognized by Gustavson’s International Advisory Board

Mia Maki

Entrepreneurship professor Mia Maki is our 2016 recipient of the International Advisory Board Community Engagement Award. The award is given each year to a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional community engagement by building strong relationships between Gustavson and the business community.

“Mia is actively engaged with the business and non-profit communities, including her work with VIATec and the Victoria Foundation,” says International Advisory Board member Blair Hagkull, who presented Maki with her award at the Dean’s Community Conversation on April 5, 2016. Maki received a certificate of recognition and $5,000.

Maki was also recognized for her involvement with the CMA Society of BC, the CPA Western School of Business, Archipelago Marine Research and for her regular contributions to a wide variety of community events as a volunteer, speaker, facilitator, judge, and moderator.

The Community Engagement Award was established by Gustavson’s International Advisory Board (IAB) and is funded by 5 of its members. The purpose of the award is to encourage and recognize faculty members who actively engage with the local business community in ways that are critical for the long-term success of the Gustavson School of Business.
