Equity, diversity and inclusion
We acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
The Gustavson School of Business is committed to supporting an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment for our students, faculty and staff. We recognize that diversity in all its many forms is key to the wellbeing of individuals and communities. We acknowledge the historical and current barriers to success and wellbeing that many individuals experience because of embedded discrimination in our society and institutions, and seek to overcome these barriers.
Gustavson EDI Committee
The equity, diversity and inclusion committee at Gustavson is made up of students, staff and faculty. The committee is dedicated to supporting equity and diversity initiatives in the school.
Committee initiatives
The committee will:
- Advise on issues, needs and opportunities to advance EDI.
- Advocate for equity and inclusion in the learning environment, the teaching experience and other aspects of the school’s work.
- Review and make recommendations about the curriculum to address EDI and Indigenization.
- Provide advice on how to meet EDI needs for all students.
- Recommend ways to promote equity for marginalized staff and faculty and ways to promote retention and advancement of underrepresented staff and faculty.
- Organize events to promote EDI and Indigenization.
