Canadian Institutes of Health Research Canada Graduate Scholarship (CIHR CGSD)

CIHR provides doctoral scholarships through their Health Research Training Award Programs to students pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field. CIHR Doctoral awards are valued at $35,000 per year for up to three years. To apply you must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada. 

Students currently registered at UVic, on an approved leave from UVic or who were registered in a degree program at UVic in this calendar year (Jan – Dec 2022) must be nominated by UVic and therefore are required to participate in the UVic internal adjudication process.

How to apply

Register to create a login account in ResearchNet and follow the CIHR Doctoral Research Award Instructions.  After submission your application will be checked to be sure it is correct and complete and you will be contacted by email to advise you of any required changes if necessary. 

If you have transcripts that include transfer credit from another institution, the original transcript with grades shown (and legend) are required. Ensure all transcripts are uploaded by the required deadline.

Applications are reviewed by your academic unit and then scored by the UVic CIHR Selection Committee. All applicants will be notified in late November to let you know if your application has been chosen by UVic.
