Business Administration - Sustainable Innovation (MBA)

The UVic MBA in Sustainable Innovation is designed to turn great minds into great innovators. We are here to challenge traditional modes of thinking, to help you navigate the complex challenges that we now face from economic, social and environmental perspectives.
This program has two modes of delivery:
- Daytime MBA program—for young professionals pursuing their MBA full-time
- Weekend MBA program—for working professionals who want to continue working while pursuing their MBA

Work experience
- Daytime MBA: minimum 2 years
- Weekend MBA: minimum 6 years
We assess candidates holistically based on their education, work and life experiences, personal submissions, references and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) scores.
We consider applicants who do not have an undergraduate degree if they have more than 15 years of professional experience. For more information, please contact mba@uvic.ca.
Note: All MBA students will participate in an international experience focussed on leading sustainable innovation. This experience may take place in another country. There are additional fees associated with this experience in addition to tuition and other required program, university and student fees.
As part of your application, you must also submit:
- a resume
- two reference letters
- two personal submissions:
- Tell us about your career goals and how the UVic MBA will help you achieve them. Connect these goals to what you have already accomplished in your life, and what impact you hope to make in the future. This submission must be a standard written document, 500-700 words in length.
- A video telling us why the UVic MBA in sustainable innovation is a good fit for you and why you are a good fit for our program. Show us your understanding of the values and culture of the UVic MBA. Give us insight into who you are and what contribution you will make to the program. This video submission must include you speaking and should be approximately three minutes in length. You may submit your video by uploading it as an "unlisted" video to YouTube or another digital platform. Include the link to your video as a PDF document in your application.
GRE and GMAT scores
Daytime MBA
You must submit scores from the GMAT or GRE. These scores must be less than 5 years old. The GMAT is the preferred test for MBA.
GMAT
- minimum score requirement: 550
- score needed to be competitive: 620+
The institutional code for GMAT is C2H-GB-55.
GRE
You may submit a GRE score in place of the GMAT. To calculate your equivalent GRE score, use the GRE Comparison Table for Business Schools.
The institutional code for the GRE is 0989.
Waivers
Exam waivers can be considered for applicants who have:
- an existing master’s degree
- a CPA or other accounting designation
- CFA level 1 or more
- other credentials or combinations to use in lieu of the GMAT
- 10+ years of professional experience at a leadership level, including dealing with budgets
Applicants requesting a waiver must complete the waiver request form and upload it with their application.
Weekend MBA
Applicants may be required to take the GMAT or GRE, depending on their level of experience and credentials.
Executive Assessment (EA)
Applicants with 10+ years of professional experience who do not demonstrate sufficient financial experience, may submit an EA score as an alternative to the GMAT or GRE.

- score needed to be competitive: 153+
