Official transcripts

In most cases, students who receive offers of admission must meet a number of conditions. One of these conditions is submission of an official transcript showing your final grades for the current school year.

What is an official transcript?

Official transcripts are issued directly to UVic by a ministry of education, educational institution or other authority. Depending on the issuer, official transcripts may be sent electronically, by mail or by courier.

To be considered "official", transcripts that have been mailed or couriered must:

  • bear the seal or stamp of the issuer
  • bear an original signature of a presiding official
  • be received by Undergraduate Admissions in a sealed envelope with the issuer's stamp over the seal.

Documents in languages other than English or French must be accompanied by notarized English translations. 

Official transcripts sent to UVic become the property of the university and will not be returned. Exceptions will be made for irreplaceable documents, which will be returned by registered mail upon written request.

How do I send an official transcript?

Current high school students

Arrange for an official transcript to be sent to Undergraduate Admissions as soon as final grades are available. Transcripts can be submitted via one of the methods below.

BC Ministry of Education

Visit the BC Ministry of Education's online StudentTranscripts Service (STS) to set up your BCeID account. You can then use the STS website to have your high school transcript sent to UVic.

Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC)

If you are currently studying at a secondary school in Ontario and have applied to other post-secondary institutions via the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC), provide your OUAC reference number when you submit your UVic application. This will enable OUAC to send your final grades to us electronically.

Applicants who are not able to submit final transcripts using one of the methods above must arrange for official transcripts to be mailed or couriered directly to Undergraduate Admissions from a ministry of education, educational institution or issuing authority.

College/university transfer students

Transfer students must arrange to send transcripts from both your college/university and high school.

College/university transcript

Arrange for an official transcript to be mailed or couriered directly to Undergraduate Admissions from your current college/university. You may also be asked for course outlines to help determine your transfer credit.

High school transcript

Official high school transcripts can be submitted via one of the methods below.
