Ruthana Slob

Credentials
BA Amsterdam University of the Arts, MEd University of the Arts Utrecht
Ruthana Slob completed a Bachelor of Theatre and a Master of Education in Arts in the Netherlands. Ruthana has since worked with (international) performing arts companies, art schools and art funds; with (local) governments and as a researcher with different research institutes. She also runs a life coach practice for children, youth and adults, in which she works with creative- and nature-assisted methods. Her drive to support the space where social change, arts and ecology come together has led her to her PhD-research at the University of Victoria. Ruthana explores to what extend (applied) theatre can play a role in bringing more awareness to the interconnectedness of all life on earth, more specifically between humans and other animals, as well as how it can support young people in developing a relational ecological identity. Her research therefore finds itself on the intersection of (Applied) Theatre, Animal Studies and Ecopsychology.
