Engineering Expansion Project – Tree Harvesting

Engineering/Computer Science Building (ECS) Exterior

Bartlett Tree Experts will be using specialized equipment to harvest Douglas Fir trees from the future footprint of the Engineering Computer Science Extension (ECSE). Trees to be removed are within the footprint of the future ECSE building, which will begin construction later this year. The logs will be taken off-site to be dried and prepared for use as structural columns in the future National Centre for Indigenous Laws (NCIL) building.

The timing of this work is being driven by our coordination with a local biologist to minimize wildlife impacts associated with the removal of these trees.

Our Environmental Stewardship Strategy for this project, including additional information on tree removal, usage, replacement and community consultation can be found at: www.uvic.ca/engineeringexpansion

Information on tree usage in the NCIL project can be found at: https://www.uvic.ca/campusplanning/current-projects/indigenous-law/index.php
