Graduate student mentorship program

The Faculty of Education is excited to announce the launch of a mentorship program for graduate students. The program was designed based on feedback from our current graduate students and research regarding best practices.

Who can join?

We invite all undergraduate and graduate Faculty of Education students to apply for this exciting opportunity! You can join the mentorship program on your own or with another graduate student who you would like to work with. There is also the option of working as a group of three graduate students. This can all be indicated in the sign-up survey.

What can I expect?

The intention of this program is to increase students' sense of belonging within the faculty and provide opportunities for students to build academic, social and professional networks. The mentorship program is guided by the genuine commitment to the professional and personal growth of all participants as well as the recognition and development of the reciprocal nature of the relationship between mentor and mentee.

What's the time commitment?

Participants are invited to commit to this program for the fall term (Sept-Dec) with an option to continue in the Winter term (Jan-April). The time commitment is roughly 3 hours/month: bimonthly meetings with your mentee/mentor and an initial orientation session in September, followed by monthly community mentorship workshops (one per month in Oct, Nov and Dec).

The orientation training session will take place on September 26, 2022 in person from 3:15-4:15 pm, or online from 12-1 pm.
