Kathy Sanford Gets Coutts Award

Kathy Sanford receives her Coutts Award

Dr. Kathy Sanford was presented with the 2018 Coutts Award by incoming president of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE), Dr. Lynn Thomas.

The Coutts Award is given to a professor who has made a significant contribution to the CSSE and thus the promotion of research in education in Canada.

Kathy has been a member of the CSSE for many years, even serving as president from 2006 to 2008. During this time, she worked to connect with the French Language research community in Canada and with the larger research community.

On top of her service to the CSSE, she has been an active member of the Canadian Association for Teacher Education (CATE) and the Canadian Association for Studies of Women in Education (CASWE). While she served as president of the CASWE, the special interest group known as Queer Studies in Education and Culture was formed--the first group within the CSSE to focus on LGBTQ research.

Kathy is a loyal advocate for the CSSE.
