Our programs

CORE offers several unique programs for learning, including remote and on-campus options. We also work with partners like College of the Rockies, Songhees First Nation to facilitate mobile learning opportunities across BC.

On-campus

Meeting each student where they are, we provide 1-1 academic tutoring for 72 students. This program hires and trains up to 35 UVic undergraduate students to provide differentiated learning experiences to children with learning challenges.

Online

In response to parents and students who were in our COVID online program, we will continue to provide supportive individualized programming online.

Outreach

CORE offers tutoring opportunities to the UVIC students in the East Kootenays’s Teacher Education Program.

CORE Mobile

CORE Mobile has supported community programs with tutoring in academic as well as physical literacy. Our current partners include Songhees First Nation and the Victoria Native Friendship Centre.

CORE Book Club

At CORE Book Club, our tutors engage learners in fun ways to enjoy literature, including graphic novels as well as classics such as Wind in the Willows.

CORE ELL

CORE ELL offers newcomer families as well as students whose native language is not English an opportunity to build conversation skills, and community in a fun and engaging way.

CORE Girls: Leadership Through STEM

This Saturday program in partnership with Science Venture will provide girls from Grades 5-12 an opportunity to engage & excel in STEM and build a supportive community through workshops led by women in STEM fields. Workshops may include wellness, programming mini-bots, using a 3D printer, yoga, and others!

CORE Workshops

CORE will offer weekly workshops for students and families. These will include “Creating Calm”, Art Education, Math Games, Puzzles Days and Science Venture STEM program for girls.
