Powerful stories of research impact

Two University of Victoria researchers are named top 25 “Storytellers” by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) 2020 Storytellers annual competition which celebrates the best in research communication by post-secondary students. Both UVic winning submissions showcase community-engaged research and creative initiatives.

UVic ranked as a global leader in climate action

UVic’s work shaping public policy discussions and climate responses, and taking practical steps towards low-carbon energy solutions, spans more than 30 years, from the founding of the Institute for Integrated Energy Systems (IESVic) to the establishment of the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS). These institutes, along with several other UVic climate research centres, thrive by doing. Working with partners in industry, government and other universities, they are active in creating policies and technologies the world needs most.

UVic donates hand sanitizer

UVic researchers make 200 litres of hand sanitizer to donate to Island Health—enough for about 65,000 single doses—for use by Island Health, whose front-line workers are in the thick of responding to the health crisis.
