Career Compass tool
Learn how we can help at every career stage!
Our Career Compass is a career development timeline to help you find career resources based on your year of study. We've organized it into three typical "career stages" to help you figure out "what to do and when" for your career development at university.
Choose your career stage to download a handy infographic, or pick up a hard copy at Career Services (Campus Services Building, room 110).
Stage 1: Discover your direction
First year on
At this career stage, you're just starting out. You'll start to gain an awareness of your personal interests, the opportunities available to you and the resources to help you meet your goals.
Stage 2: Explore your options
Second year on
In this intermediate career development stage, you're exploring your career options, assess your competencies (skills, knowledge and attributes) and filling any gaps with relevant experience in your area of interest.
Stage 3: Gear up to graduate
Third year on
At this stage, you're preparing for your career after graduation. You're putting all the pieces together—interests, competencies, and experience—to help you make the leap from the classroom to the working world.
