It Started in the McPherson Library

There is nothing quite like an old photograph to start the memories flooding back.
For Corol and Rupee Pallan, who contributed to the Alumni Week 2017 Flashback Foto gallery, their life together started in the earliest days of UVic.
They first met in 1964 (just a year after the university opened) when they were both students. It was during study sessions in the McPherson Library when the sparks first started to fly.
Since then, more than 50 years later, they really haven't been too far apart.
The photo they contributed (shown above) is of the two of them at the 1967 graduation dance celebrating Rupee's completion of his UVic studies.
A formal occasion, the grads dined and danced to the orchestra in the Empress Hotel's Crystall Ballroom. They would celebrate again a year later when Corol graduated.
Married since 1969, the two of them went on to teaching careers in the Sooke School District where she taught primary school and he became a principal.
