What is the University of Victoria Alumni Association?

The University of Victoria Alumni Association (est. 1963) is a dynamic link between UVic graduates and the University. The alumni association's mission is "to encourage, in partnership with the university, a lifelong relationship between UVic alumni and their university".

The association, a separate society incorporated under the Society Act of BC.

On behalf of the alumni association, Alumni Relations staff work to deliver quality events, services, and communications aimed to stimulate interest, cultivate involvement in the prosperity of the university, and inspire feelings of loyalty and pride among alumni and current students.

How do I become a member of the alumni association?

Once you graduate from UVic with a degree, certificate or diploma, you are automatically a lifetime member of the UVic Alumni Association. There is no annual fee. Former students of Victoria College and the Provincial Normal School – UVic's forerunners – are also valued members of the alumni association. Welcome!

What can the UVic Alumni Association do for me?

The association can serve you in several ways.

We keep you up-to-date with and connected to the University of Victoria wherever you reside. We also offer you excellent opportunities for staying in touch with other UVic grads.

The UVic Torch Alumni Magazine is published in April and October by UVic Communications and the UVic Alumni Association, and is circulated to approximately 57,000 alumni and friends of UVic around the world.

The alumni association offers a wide range of Alumni Benefits, such as Group Home Insurance (Meloche Monnex), UVic MasterCard (MBNA), and Group Life Insurance (Industrial Alliance Pacific).

What do I get with my UVic Alumni Card?

As a member of the University of Victoria Alumni Association, you are eligible to purchase an Alumni Card. This card gives you access to a wide range of university services, as well as many local business discounts. The card is available for a one-time fee of $20.

How can I get involved?

This is your university, your association, and your voice on campus. We welcome your involvement! Volunteer opportunities to become involved with the association exist in almost any capacity and time commitment that suits you are available. There are opportunities to become an on-line community mentor, to sit on a committee, to help with high school student recruitment, or to welcome new grads to the Association. Who are the UVic Student Ambassadors?

The UVic Student Ambassadors, established in 1996, and is an energetic group of 40 students. The build school spirit and connections between students, alumni, faculty and administrators. The students are involved in on-campus and community volunteer projects, fundraising and alumni events. Money raised at this event helps the ambassadors support campus service projects and fund on campus events and activities for students.
