Stacy Ross
Dan Smythe

Stacy Ross
BFA '97

Stacy never liked the  term "mature student" but that's what she was when she graduated with a Fine Arts degree in 1997. She used the skills learned at the Phoenix Theatre to help her land a part-time job as a sports anchor and reporter at CHEK Television in 2000.

Now, 16 years later she's anchoring the five o'clock news and loving it. Stacy grew up in Metchosin and still lives there with her wonderful husband and two terrific kids. She's thrilled to be a new member of the UVic alumni board.

Dan Sharp, BA '84

Dan Sharp is the owner and CEO of Western Allergy Services, a niche pharmaceutical company based in Victoria, BC. Under Dan's leadership, Western Allergy was instrumental in spearheading the first clinical trial on sublingual immunotherapy in North America.

At heart, Dan is a serial entrepreneur, having launched numerous start ups, bought and sold a number of companies including niche medical, health and wellness, agriculture, architecture and even an award winning restaurant.

Dan grew up in Vancouver and came to UVIC which he credits for the invaluable analytical, research and social skills (there were a few pub crawls) acquired as integral to his development as both a person and a businessman. He was very honoured to receive the 2016 UVIC Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Humanities.

Dan has dedicated much of his time to volunteer activities - taking on roles such as business mentor, former VP of the Victoria Symphony and more recently, was chairperson of a major BC Cancer Foundation fundraiser where he helped raise millions of dollars for research into immunotherapy treatment for cancer. Dan is a member of the Sovereign Order of St John.

Dan currently lives in Victoria with his wife Pam Russell and their two dogs and is delighted that his two sons recently graduated from UVIC, one in Philosophy and the other in Geography/Business.
