A Framework Agreement exists between the University of Victoria Faculty Association and the University of Victoria. In teaching, learning, research, artistic creativity and professional practice, the faculty association and the university are committed to attaining the highest quality, to meeting the highest standards of integrity, to providing students with an environment in which they may develop intellectually and professionally, to promoting the advancement and dissemination of knowledge, and to supporting a climate of academic freedom, responsibility, and mutual respect. Under the Framework Agreement, both parties agree, in the furtherance of these aims, to promote harmonious relations and to attempt to settle any misunderstandings or disputes in a respectful manner.
