Develop your leadership skills while helping prospective students and new undergraduate students learn about UVic! As a member of the Leadership Program, you'll represent UVic and your faculty at orientation and recruitment events, helping us to find and guide the next generation of UVic undergraduate students. ou'll also receive credit toward your Co-Curricular Record (CCR), a chronicle of your volunteer and leadership experiences at UVic.

Responsibilities

Leadership volunteers are expected to:

  • attend meetings and training sessions every two weeks to develop professional and personal skills (typically Fridays from 3:30-5:00 p.m.)
  • recruit, screen and assist in training new and returning volunteers for UVic Orientation
  • serve as ambassadors for UVic at orientation and recruitment events
  • provide vital feedback to UVic Orientation through program meetings
  • co-develop and deliver new initiatives, training, programs and ideas to support orientation volunteers and new UVic students
  • act as mentors for new and returning orientation volunteers
  • participate in Leadership Program retreats.

Qualifications

We're looking for students who:

  • are passionate about UVic and excited about the UVic experience
  • are interested in professional and leadership development
  • display exemplary communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • have completed a minimum of one semester of undergraduate or graduate study at UVic with satisfactory academic standing (minimum B average)
  • are currently enrolled in a minimum of one undergraduate or graduate course or are on a UVic co-op term.

Preference will be given to undergraduate students who have experience with UVic Orientation programs.
