Unlike primary NetLink IDs, secondary IDs are not associated with a person and do not have access to My page, library accounts, and other resources that require role-based authentication. A secondary NetLink ID can, however, have an associated email account and web space on the UVic server and can be used to login to computer labs and the wireless network.
Secondary accounts are useful for departments and shared email accounts (e.g. "helpdesk" is a secondary account). If an individual is looking for a NetLink ID or UVic email address, a more appropriate option would be an affiliate account. Affiliate status grants individuals V-numbers as well as primary NetLink IDs and UVic email accounts.
Request a secondary NetLink ID
Faculty, staff, and departments may request secondary NetLink IDs by completing the online form. Note that you will need to login with your NetLink ID.
