Install the VPN client: Windows

The Cisco AnyConnect client is a VPN client that supports multiple operating systems. The best way to install it is from the VPN server itself. It is best to uninstall any IPSEC client first (Cisco, Shrew, etc.) before installing the AnyConnect client.

  1. Navigate to https://vpn.uvic.ca and enter your NetLink credentials in the username and password fields.

  2. Read through the VPN service notice and press Continue.

  3. If you are prompted by a security warning, click Run.

  4. The AnyConnect client will automatically install and connect to the Virtual Private Network (VPN). If prompted, connect to vpn.uvic.ca and use your NetLink ID and password as the credentials.
  5. A small icon will appear in the task-bar indicating the client is connected.

  6. If Local Area Network (LAN) access is disabled in the AnyConnect client:
    • Right click the AnyConnect icon on the task-bar.
    • Click Connection.
    • Click Settings.
    • Select Enable local LAN access.
