The use of technology in education is evolving at an ever increasing rate. Learning Systems' goal is to provide and support a spectrum of solutions that can be incorporated in your teaching practice to help you meet your students' learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
Learning Systems is a unit of Academic and Administrative Services in University Systems. We provide consulting and professional development opportunities in the use of current e-learning tools available at UVic. In addition, Learning Systems will research, evaluate and disseminate knowledge about existing and emerging educational technologies. Learning Systems provides support for iClicker, Moodle, and Turnitin.
Our staff
As a unit, our formal education and background is in the Humanities, Education, Computer Science, and Fine Arts. Among us we have graduate experience and substantial expertise in:
- linguistics, educational technology, online learning environments
- Spanish, French, German, Chinese, literary theory and analysis
- project planning and management
- training and coordination for conferences, workshops, and showcases
- instructional design, text encoding, data analysis/structuring, classroom teaching, curriculum development
- design and multimedia
We have expertise teaching and developing a range of software technologies:
- Moodle
- Turnitin plagiarism prevention
- iClicker student response system
- language learning technologies
- multimedia authoring tools
