Student Affairs Reorganization
Over the last two years, the Student Services (STSV) team in the Division of Student Affairs has led the development of a Student Mental Health Strategy and partnered with the UVSS on the Let’s Get Consensual campaign as part of our work on addressing issues of sexualized violence. We are now entering phase II of the Student Mental Health Strategy as well as launching our new Bystander Intervention Training program to continue to address the underlying factors that lead to issues of sexualized violence.
Recognizing the significant educational programming that is being done in STSV, as well as our commitment to continue responding to the many challenging issues that face our community, we will be creating a new Student Affairs unit effective May 1, 2016. The launch of the Office of Student Life unit represents a significant new initiative for Student Services. This new unit will encompass educational programming, judicial affairs, and student leader training and will expand on our commitment to continue responding to the many challenging issues that face our student community.
In order to accommodate this significant addition to STSV, and to more closely align functional units across the Division, University Food Services, which previously reported to STSV has joined the Campus Services team effective February 11, 2016. This organizational change will see UNFS join the Bookstore, Computer Store, Printing Services, ONECard and Child Care Services under the leadership of Jim Forbes who has an excellent record of guiding ancillary operations.
Questions about this restructuring can be directed to Jim Dunsdon, Associate Vice-President Student Affairs.
