Dr. Catherine Krull
Catherine Krull is the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, she began her five-year term on July 15, 2014.
Dr. Krull was an Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science and Professor of Sociology and Cultural Studies at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. She is past editor of Cuban Studies and current editor-in-chief of the Canadian Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
Recent publications include Cuba in Global Context: International Relations, Internationalism and Transnationalism (2014); Rereading Women and the Cuban Revolution, (with Jean Stubbs, 2011); A Measure of a Revolution: Cuba, 1959-2009 (with Soraya Castro, 2010) and New World Coming: The 1960s and the Shaping of Global Consciousness (with Dubinsky, et al, 2009).
At Queen's University in 2009, she co-organized (with Soraya Castro, Louis Perez, Jr., and Susan Eckstein) a large international conference (263 speakers from 12 countries) that focused on 50 years of the Cuban Revolution. Currently, she is working on a monograph entitled Generations, Memory and Political Consciousness: Women’s Daily Life in Cuba and two ongoing projects: 1) the Cuban Diaspora in Canada and Europe (with Jean Stubbs, University of London), and 2) Entangled US/Cuban Terrains: Memories of Guantanamo (with Asa McKercher, Queen’s University).
She is very much looking forward to becoming part of the team at the University of Victoria.
