Mini-University Summer Camp
July 8th - 12th, 2013
The Indigenous Student Mini-University Summer Camp gives you a taste of university life! A week filled with academic, physical, creative, cultural and social activities—it is a great way to learn about the benefits of a post-secondary education and envision your educational options in the future. Application is open to Indigenous students (including First Nations—status/non-status, Métis and Inuit) in Grades 8 to 12 who reside in British Columbia.

Indigenous Adult Orientation
June 17th - June 20th, 2013
The Indigenous Adult Orientation program is for adults age 19 and older who would like to explore their post-secondary options at the University of Victoria and experience university life. Participants will stay on-campus in residence for four days, have campus tours, meet Indigenous students and faculty, and be introduced to a variety of programs and courses.
Applications are open to Indigenous (including First Nations—status/non-status, Métis and Inuit) residents of British Columbia ages 19+, and will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are 20 seats available, and this program is fully funded to include travel reimbursement, accommodation and food.

Territory and acknowledgements
UVic is situated on the territory of the Coast and Straits Salish people. The university sits on the site of an old Lekwungen village. If you look around, you will see the remnants of an old Garry Oak Ecosystem indicating the presence of camas fields on this land.
Welcome to the ancestral land of the Lekwungen family group, Checkonien and Sungayka village ('snow patches'). This area was known for camas harvesting, trading and cultural and spiritual practices. It was home to the Checkonien family group including Chee-al-thuc whose longhouse was in what is now known as Cadboro Bay. The beach at low tide was one place the ancestors played qoqwialls ('lacrosse')—Cheryl Bryce, Songhees Nation.
