Bike patrol
To enhance our level of service to the University community, Campus Security Services initiated a Bike Patrol program in 1995.
Bicycle patrols increase the patrol range of the Security Officers and significantly decrease response time to calls. Security Officers can cycle through crowds, isolated areas, around obstacles, and can approach suspicious situations discreetly.
Our Bike Patrol program has helped to increase Campus Security's visibility, and has consequently helped to reduce crime. It also allows Security Officers to be more approachable and more active in the campus community.
The Bike Patrol program demonstrates how Campus Security Services utilizes the Community Policing concept. Campus Security is actively involved with promoting safe cycling by hosting an annual Children's Bicycle Rodeo on campus.
