Math Competitions

These competitions are open to all undergraduate students at UVic, including first year students. In the past some prizes were won by first year students.

UVic mathematics competition

The UVic Mathematics Competition is held annually in September. The 13th competition will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 (4:30 - 6:30 pm) in CLE A205. There are monetary prizes. To participate, just show up. To get an idea of what questions may appear in the competition see these old exams.

Putnam mathematics competition

The Putnam Mathematics Competition is held annually on the first Saturday in December. This year it will take place Saturday, December 3, 2011 (8:00 - 11:00 am and 1:00 - 4:00 pm) in HHB 110. Training sessions will be held every Friday afternoon starting in October at 2:30 pm in MAC D115. Participation in the Putnam Competition in December requires registration by Oct 3rd.
