We especially encourage applications from candidates with outstanding research records in theoretical or applied ergodic theory, non-autonomous dynamical systems or symbolic dynamics. The initial term is 12 months, with anticipated start date September 1, 2015; extension to a second year is anticipated, subject to strong performance by the research fellow and availability of funding. Successful applicants must have (by the time of appointment) a PhD in the area of research and are expected to teach one undergraduate course per year in the department as part of this appointment. Applications for this position are through MathJobs. The required documentation consists of a CV, Statement of Research Interests, and two letters of reference (to be uploaded directly to MathJobs by the referee).

For any questions about the position, please contact Chris Bose (cbose@uvic.ca) or Anthony Quas (aquas@uvic.ca).

Teaching assistant positions

We hire teaching assistants (TAs) three times a year usually in July, November and March. Our TAs teach tutorials, work as tutors in the Math & Stats Assistance Centre or they work as markers. If you would like to receive an application form next time we hire, or if you have any questions, please send an email to the coordinator at msassist@uvic.ca. If you are a grad student in math or stats you will automatically receive an application form.
