Research Description

My current research is concerned with modelling HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. I consider this part of my basic field of demography. I have also completed studies in human ecology, maternal/child health, and childhood growth and development.

Interdisciplinary Research

At present I am working with Dr. Pauline van den Driessche, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Victoria in modeling the spread of HIV/AIDS and STDs among northern Kenyan communities.

Health Related Research

My health related research includes a three-year study of maternal/child health, nutrition and growth in northern Kenya, along with my present research on HIV/AIDS and STDs.

For the past 18 years I have conducted research in northern Kenya among Rendille, Samburu and Ariaal tribal people.
