Research Information

Research Description

My research interests and contributions focus on the study of the fundamental forces of nature which govern the interactions between radiation and the ultimate constituents of matter. They include the development, construction and operation of particle detectors for high energy colliders, the measurement of fundamental electroweak parameters, and the development of data analysis tools, techniques and software.

I am currently fully dedicated to the operation of the ATLAS detector at the Large hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (Geneva), and to the analysis of its data. ATLAS and the LHC act as the most powerful microscope ever built, allowing physicists to look where no one as looked before, seeking clues of the Higgs Boson, Supersymmetry, and Dark Matter.

International Involvement

International Research

My current research activities are at the Large Hadron Collider which is in operation at the European Centre for Particle Physics (CERN), Geneva, Switzerland.
I am a founding member of the ATLAS Collaboration, which is currently composed of over 3000 physicists from over 35 countries. I was also the founding Spokesperson of the ATLAS Canada Collaboration, now composed of over 150 scientists in 11 institutions in Canada.

Countries lived/worked in

England, France, and Switzerland

Software Development

High energy particle physics experiments produce large and complex data sets. My research involves the design and implementation of object oriented data analysis software within a large international collaboration.
