Research Information

Research Description

I am theoretical astrophysicists/cosmologist. My primary interest is to understand how cosmic systems, such as galaxies and clusters of galaxies, have come to be. Specifically, I am interested in identifying and understanding the physical processes - be they gravitational or gas dynamics in nature - that govern the formation and evolution of these systems. To gain necessary insight, I use a number of tools and techniques, ranging from the use of computer simulations and mathematical modeling to gravitational lensing and X-ray observations.

Interdisciplinary Research

In collaboration with Dr. Naznin Virji-Babul (DSRF, Vancouver) and Dr. Andrew Jirasek (UVic-Physics), I am investigating the use of Magneto EncephaloGraphy (MEG) as tool for non-invasive studies of the human brain.

International Research

Most my investigations are collaborative in nature involving groups 4-5 scientists from the US, the UK, Germany and India.

Additionally, I am also the Director of the Canadian Computation Cosmology Collaboration, a joint national/international venture aimed at understanding how galaxies. This Collaboration draws together theoretical and computational cosmologist from across Canada as well as the UK and the US.
