Giving to Research
Investing in the future of UVic
We rely on your support and encourage you to consider investing in the future of UVic. Your involvement is an investment in the students and researchers who will build a bright future for all of us.
UVic is looking for support from those who share our passion for UVic’s potential. There are a number of ways you can invest in research by giving or donating:
Research chairs and professorships
Investing in the university’s research programs may mean endowing a research chair or professorship in a particular field of study.
Supporting an outstanding scholar is an investment in making their mentorship available to students and the wider research community.
For more information about how to invest in research through giving, visit the university's Development Office.
Research projects and equipment
Investing in the university’s research programs may mean investing in research project funding within an area of particular activity. You can help graduate students and junior scholars begin the programs that will develop into stellar academic careers.

Scholarship, bursaries and fellowships
In an increasingly competitive environment, students often choose a university based on its programs as well as the availability of financial aid.
Donations help us to increase the number and value of student awards so that we can compete regionally, nationally and internationally.
UVic is committed to providing undergraduate and graduate students with an accessible education of the very highest quality. Donations to scholarships, bursaries and fellowships open doors for students seeking financial assistance. Help encourage and reward students' talent, effort and achievements.

Economics PhD candidate and international student Omer Kahn has been supported by university donors throughout his education. He plans to express his appreciation and contribute to Canadian society by becoming a researcher and professor. Omer’s research focuses on econometrics and economic development in drought situations.
Omer recently received the Peter Ciceri Graduate Award in Economics. He believes the fellowship allows him to conduct his important research without getting distracted by the challenges of life as a student.
He feels that donors are contributing to the betterment of society when establishing student awards. Omer says, “In the bigger picture, supporting students creates a better world.”
Fellowships are merit-based awards granted to outstanding students enrolled in graduate studies. These awards enable students to concentrate on their speciality, pursue their research and maintain high academic standing.
