Craigdarroch awards

The Craigdarroch Research Awards are named for Craigdarroch Castle, which was home to Victoria College from 1921 to 1946. These annual awards are an opportunity to recognize those who excel in original, productive, entrepreneurial and ground-breaking research at the University of Victoria.
Diversity and excellence
The university is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive scholarly environment. We encourage nominations for the Craigdarroch Research Awards that celebrate excellence across campus. This is an opportunity to honour the achievements of individuals and teams and those who may contribute to the further diversification of the university.

Craigdarroch Gold Medal for Career Achievement
A gold medal and $1,500 research grant awarded for a distinguished record of research or creative activity, including artistic expression, which has advanced substantially the discipline or art. This award honors lifetime achievement.
Craigdarroch Silver Medal for Excellence in Research
A silver medal and $1,500 research grant awarded for demonstrated excellence in research or creative activity, including artistic expression.
Craigdarroch Award for Excellence in Knowledge Mobilization
One award to recognize a significant projet or body of work that demonstrates excellence in Knowledge Mobilization (KM) defined as "the purposeful exchange and application of knowledge developed through an ongoing process of research and/or creative and artistic endeavour for the benefit of society".
Craigdarroch Award for Excellence in Artistic Expression
One award to recognize a significant project or body of work that uses artistic expression to further knowledge of the human condition. All faculty members, emeritus faculty, and staff are eligible; collaborative work will be considered.
Craigdarroch Award for Excellence in Innovation and Entrepreneurship
One award in the amount of $1000 to recognize innovative basic or applied research that has resulted in an economically and/or socially relevant technology/product, service or process that has commercial or other benefits that will have a positive impact on society.
Deadline
Information about the 2013 call for nominations will be available in November 2012. Nominations may be submitted by email to awardfac@uvic.ca or in hard copy to the Awards Facilitator, Office of Research Services.
