Material transfer agreements

Material transfer agreements (MTAs) are used when research material is being transferred from one organization to another. For example:

• You want to transfer your research material from UVic to a research collaborator or research repository.
• Material is being transferred to you from an outside organization, for use in your research.

The Office of Research Services (ORS) is responsible for coordinating development, review, negotiation, and finalization of MTAs. We work closely with Science Stores, Purchasing, Animal Care, and other UVic units involved in ordering research materials.

If your supplier requires an MTA to order chemicals, biological materials, or other research materials please contact us as soon as you know to avoid delay in the processing of your order.

If your MTA deals with material that you are planning to commercialize, it will go through Research Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization.
