Research partners

At UVic, knowledge doesn’t stop at campus boundaries. Every day, UVic ideas and innovations reach thousands of people regardless of whether they have ever set foot in a lab or classroom.
By investing in close partnerships with the public and the private sector, UVic ensures that university knowledge is continually transmitted to—and enriched by—the wider community.
Impacting society
UVic is committed to the mobilization and application of knowledge for societal benefit. By building research partnerships in Canada and across the globe that engage communities and address their priorities, the university is helping communities thrive through its efforts in mobilizing knowledge.
Working with communities
UVic is home to Canada’s first university-wide Office of Community-Based Research (OCBR), which helps mobilize research partnerships to tackle complex community issues such as homelessness, food security and child poverty.
Working with industry
What happens when a researcher develops a great idea or a company needs the expertise of University of Victoria faculty? UVic Industry Partnerships (UIP) serves as a portal for private sector collaboration and as a commercial launch pad for viable inventions and concepts.
At the UVic-owned Vancouver Island Technology Park, emerging technology companies are linked with local, provincial, national and international resources, fostering an environment of collaborative development.
Collaborating with government
The Department of Government Relations works with the UVic community, President and Executive members to develop and enhance positive working relationships with all levels of governments.
