UVic Diversity Writing Contest

Showcase your work, have it published, win a prize! Enter the UVic Diversity Writing Contest.
How do I enter?
Submit one unpublished piece of writing or a video of your slam poetry performance to Scott Downing at sdowning@uvic.ca. Your work can cover any theme or topic that relates to diversity, equity and/or inclusion; for example, share critical thinking, a self-reflection, or any aspect of diversity, equity, or inclusion. Class papers are welcome.
Entries will be judged on originality, style, and adherence to the themes of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This year's deadline for submissions is January 10, 2014. We are excited to receive your entries!
Prizes
Winners will receive the following:
- $200 first place ; $100 second place (each category)
- Invitation to a unique two-hour writer's workshop with Denise Chong, notable Chinese-Canadian author of critically acclaimed works such as The Concubine's Children (1994)
- Recognition at the Diversity Research Forum on January 29th, 2014; slam poetry winners will be asked to perform their piece
- Winning entries will be published in Multiplicity, UVic's diversity newsletter
- Winning entries will be published on the Libraries' and VPAC's websites
