Faculty Institute of Teaching (FIT)

The Faculty Institute of Teaching (FIT) provides the opportunity for faculty to enhance their skills in lecturing, teaching and learning strategies, syllabus construction, grading student performance, and teaching dossier preparation.

To accommodate many different schedules, FIT 1 is offered twice a year: once in a 5-day, condensed format during August (approximately 30 in-class hours), and again for three hours per week for ten weeks (also 30 hours) from September to November.

All faculty are welcome, but priority will be given to research and teaching stream faculty who are new to the University and/or new to teaching. Other UVic instructors may also attend, including limited term, lecturers and continuing and term sessionals, as space permits. The waiting list will be opened up at least two weeks prior to the start of the program if space is available. Graduate students should consider taking the LATHE program, as FIT is not open to graduate students.
