Resources for current international students
Whether you're new to UVic or finishing up your studies, UVic and the student experience team are here to support you along the way.
The International Office holds conversation cafes for international and exchange students whose first language is not English.
Improve your English language skills in these casual and relaxed one and a half hour sessions. Topics discussed may include current events, pronunciation, making sense of strange Canadian slang and idioms, Canadian culture and cross-cultural differences.
Check the news and events page for more information.
There are also language conversation cafes organized by the International Commons.
The buddy program hosts social and cultural group events for UVic students who want to meet new friends from around the world and learn about other cultures while sharing their own.
- Become a buddy (new students)
- Find a buddy (current students)
The International Commons, located in the library, is a buzzing hub of activity where international students receive a wide range of programs and services to ease their transition to UVic and support their studies.
