UVic Humanities offers you the opportunity to expand your horizons, explore your own interests, and understand how knowledge is constructed, disseminated, and used in the real world.

Big ideas. Practical experience.

In UVic Humanities, you can combine the deep knowledge you love with the career training you need. And all within a small, intimate campus on one of the most beautiful coasts in the world.

Our programs include English, French, Medieval Studies, Germanic & Slavic Studies, Greek & Roman Studies, Hispanic & Italian Studies, History, Latin American Studies, Linguistics, Pacific & Asian Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Women’s Studies. UVic also has a unique combined Major in English and French Canadian Literature.

Combine your degree with practical training

You can combine your degree with a minor in Professional Communications or courses in Digital Humanities. You can also acquire job experience while earning your degree through Humanities, Fine Arts, and Professional Writing Co-op.

What is student life like at UVic?

On your way to class, you would pass deer grazing and see eagles soaring above the trees! You would live within easy walking distance of our local beaches and parks. You could catch a Vikes game or join one of our many top sports teams.

You would join a progressive campus community where we value student engagement and cherish diversity.

You will find small classes and dedicated teachers who get to know you personally.

We'd love to show you our residences, newly renovated library, new athletics centre, First People’s House, and the central fountain where students gather to chat or read. You can arrange a tour of the beautifully wooded west-coast campus and see what sets us apart.
