Our faculty offers the following graduate degrees, certificates, and diplomas:

Cultural, Social and Political Thought

  • This interdisciplinary M.A. program is open to graduate students in English, History, Political Science, or Sociology; you must also satisfy the admissions requirements of the CSPT program.
  • This interdisciplinary Ph.D program is open to graduate students in English, History, Political Science, or Sociology; you must also satisfy the admissions requirements of the CSPT program.

European Studies

  • There is currently no graduate program in European studies; however, they offer resources to support you and help you focus your studies on European topics. These resources include faculty referrals, office space, internships, involvement in conferences, and opportunities to study abroad.

Germanic and Slavic Studies

Greek and Roman Studies

  • M.A. program: two-year program combining coursework and thesis. Your coursework will include the study of both Greek and Latin, but you may write your thesis in the areas of Greek literature, Latin literature, Greek history, Roman history, and classical archaeology.
  • Ph.D program with four core themes: 1) interconnectivity in the ancient Mediterranean; 2) technology in the ancient world; 3) social and economic history; and 4) gender and identity studies.

Hispanic and Italian Studies

  • Hispanic Studies M.A. program (thesis and non-thesis options)
  • Hispanic and Italian Studies M.A. program (thesis and non-thesis options)

History

Linguistics

Pacific and Asian Studies

  • M.A. program (long or short thesis options): you may pursue research in 1) the Area Studies Stream (the social, cultural, historical, political and economic aspects of China, Japan, Oceania, or Southeast Asia); or 2) the Literary and Textual Studies Stream (the literary, artistic and cultural forms of China, Japan or Southeast Asia).
