Transfer to UVic
Transferring to UVic History is easy!
Simply apply online and send in your transcripts. Within a few weeks you'll receive a transfer evaluation with a course-by-course description of how your credit transfers to UVic. Once you've been accepted, an academic advisor can assist you with enrolment.
The requirements listed below apply to transfer applicants wishing to enter the Faculties of Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences.
Limitations on transfer credit
If you plan to begin your studies at another institution and transfer to UVic you should ensure that the courses you take are eligible for transfer credit in your planned program at UVic.
Transfer credit granted in a degree program is limited and may not normally be applied to the final 30 units of the program. Exceptions to this regulation require the approval of the Dean of the faculty concerned.
If your performance warrants a review of transfer credit granted on admission, the University may require you to make up any deficiencies (without additional credit) before proceeding to studies at a higher level. These decisions are normally made at the department level.
Transferring from a BC college
Transfer credit from BC colleges will be assigned according to the equivalencies set out on the BC Transfer Guide (BCCAT) website for the year in which the courses were completed. Transfer credit from other accredited institutions is determined by the relevant academic department and Undergraduate Admissions. Visiting and non-degree students are not assigned transfer credit.
How will I know what courses transfer from my previous study?
You will receive a list of your transfer credit with your offer of admission. Any transfer credit awarded upon admission is also listed on your student record online.
