Academic advising

Graduate Adviser

The Graduate Adviser manages the various MA and PhD programs on offer in the Department of English. He or she is the contact person for admissions, funding opportunities, course planning, exceptions to the programs, special circumstances, advice on committee configurations, help navigating the profession, and dealing with the requirements of both the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the department.

Dr. Alison Chapman is the current Graduate Adviser.

"I'm here to ensure that our graduate program admits the very best of those who apply to our programs, and that your experience once here is as good as it can be. I'm happy to help with any aspect of your program, from course selection to dealing with your supervisor, applying to conferences, and seeking grant funding from agencies like SSHRC. If you don't come and talk to me, then I can't help, so make sure to drop by and let me know what's happening."
