Overview

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) On Campus program is designed for recent graduates preparing to launch their career in government and the non-profit sector. Whether your background is in economics or fine arts, the MPA On Campus program will lead you to careers in local, provincial, First Nations and federal governments as well as non-profit and international organizations.

In this professional program students explore the theory and practicalities of both policy analysis and public management. The resulting mix of skills and knowledge opens doors to careers as managers, analysts and consultants. Our graduates manage city governments, administer non-profit organizations, run large government ministries, and lead in the interface between business and government.

Program overview

The program focuses on the topics of governance, policy, management, research, economics, finance, and law. Throughout the program, students also develop professional writing and research skills. Group work is an important component of the program, reflecting the realities of a professional work environment.

While the program could be completed in two years, the overwhelming majority of students take just over two years to complete the program. The three academic terms are interspersed with up to three co-operative work terms, making the program largely self-funding. Our students earn up to $3,000 per month during work terms.

Co-operative education

Students apply classroom knowledge in a variety of working environments, refine their job search skills and make valuable professional contacts. Students also earn a competative salary during co-op work terms, making the MPA On Campus program largely self-funded.

Tailoring your studies

You can tailor your studies. We offer opportunities for students wishing to tailor their studies through their selection of elective courses, co-op work term placements and project topics that focus on specific areas of study.

MPA On Campus students can apply to undertake a double degree Juris Doctor (JD) and MPA program or to participate in a student exchange and study at our partner institution in Australia.
