Graduate Certificates

FAQ

How long does it take to complete a Graduate Professional Certificate program?

You can earn a Graduate Professional Certificate on a part-time basis in less than two years. You will register in one course per term – including the summer term.

What is the minimum acceptable GPA for entry into the Graduate Certificate programs?

To be eligible for admission, applicants must have:

  • an undergraduate degree (or equivalent from another country) from an accredited and recognized institution. For the Graduate Professional Certificate in Library Sector Leadership, a master’s degree is preferred.
  • a grade point average of 5.0 (B) in the last two years (30 units) leading to the undergraduate degree.

Will the program focus specifically on leadership in my sector?

Our Graduate Professional Certificates in Library Sector Leadership and Cultural Sector Leadership programs include:

  • one on-campus orientation course designed specifically for professionals working in your sector.
  • four online courses tailored to reflect the particular challenges of your sector.

The Graduate Certificate and Diploma in Evaluation< programs are exclusively online, and do not include an on-campus orientation course.

In some courses, you will join a larger group of public administration graduate students and learn from their experiences in very different workplaces. In other courses, you will be part of a group focused on your particular sector.

How much work is involved in the Graduate Certificate programs?

You should plan to spend between 10 and 15 hours per week on each course you take.

What are the tuition fees for the courses?

As a student in a Graduate Certificate or Diploma program, you will pay tuition fees on a per-unit basis; most of the courses in these programs are 1.5 unit courses, although there are exceptions. Please consult the Accounting Services tuition page for the specific amount under the heading Graduate Tuition, Non-degree student. Note that these fees are for tuition only, and do not account for ancillary or course materials fees.
