Nurse Practitioner option

Are you a nurse interested in a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner?

Nurse practitioners are part of the front-line team providing primary health care to Canadian citizens. Become a family nurse practitioner in a primary care setting and assess, diagnose and treat common ailments for clients of all ages.

This full-time two-year intensive degree requires your continuous registration in three terms per year for two years. The nurse practitioner option is practice-oriented and theory-based, intended to prepare you for registration and advanced practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Graduates of the NP option are eligible to write College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia NP registration exams.

As the NP program builds on your knowledge, skills, and abilities as an RN, it is expected you will have current knowledge of basic anatomy, pathophysiology and pharmacology, and skills in physical assessment.
