NEW Continuing Professional Development Program Workshop - Project Management in Health Informatics
November 18 & 19, 2011
This workshop provides a practical overview of project management (PM) and the application of project management tools in a health care information technology environment. Key concepts of project management in health care and the importance of these concepts in relation to evidence based management will be introduced. Guest speakers will discuss project management challenges specific to health care, the importance of an evidence-based approach, and understanding why projects fail. This is a hands-on workshop where participants will have an opportunity to work with each other, the instructor, and learn from a panel of health care industry experts. Download the poster.

Health informatics (HI) covers the collection, use and management of data at all levels of healthcare. IT is playing an increasing role as the hospital systems and social services move from paper to electronic systems and more technology and information is targeted at patients and the public. This presentation considers HI applied to chronic disease management. This presentation will look at "drivers behind change" and available technology; past research into home-data collection and use; and a current socio-economic evaluation of remote clinical and quality of life monitoring services in sites around Europe. NEW -- Double degrees: Master of Nursing and Master of Science in Health Informatics.
The double degree option permits nurses who are interested in health information technology to develop graduate level competencies in both nursing and Health Information Science. The option is intended to prepare nursing leaders with a background essential for working in the rapidly expanding field of nursing and health informatics. Graduates will be prepared to take leadership roles in informatics, telehealth, implementation of electronic health care records and other areas of emerging health technology.
