New Employee Welcome Event

The New Employee Welcome, for those who have joined the University of Victoria within the last year, is an informative and interactive workshop. You will be given opportunities to participate in conversations and activities designed to highlight our university culture, values and community, while meeting other new people from various spaces on campus. The next session consists of a wide range of important and interesting information and activites including:

  • A panel dialogue introducing senior administration and the concepts of "The UVic Edge"
  • Updates and answers to FAQs on current UVic projects, research and student activities
  • Activities about the value we place on diversity, culture and healthy workplaces
  • A game focused on how we practice environmental sustainability
  • An Information Market Place displaying campus amenities and services

The next workshop is:

  • Date: Thursday, May 26, 2016
  • Optional - 8:30am Campus Tour
  • Time: 10am - 4:30pm
  • Location: The University Club, Main Dining Room
     ~ Includes morning tea/coffee, light snacks, and lunch
Invitations with registration details have been sent to new, regular part-time and full-time employees.

If you are an employee who hasn't attended a new employee welcome event before, you are encouraged to attend and should request an invitation from Human Resources.

CUPE 917

CUPE 917 represents the University of Victoria's trades, grounds workers, security officers, facility attendants and janitorial, maintenance and food service workers among others. CUPE 917 represents approximately 500 workers (430 FTE positions).

CUPE 951

CUPE 951 represents approximately 850 workers (755 FTE positions) including office employees, library assistants, technicians, nurses and child care workers.

CUPE 4163

CUPE 4163 is known as the University of Victoria's Educational Employees' Union. The local is made up of three "components," each with separate collective agreement language.  CUPE Local 4163 application form can be found at http://4163.cupe.ca/?page_id=396

Professional Employees Association (PEA)

The PEA chapter at UVic comprises administrative and academic professionals. This group includes 850 employees (770 FTEs).
