UVic mourns loss of student
The university is deeply saddened by the loss of UVic student Georgia Klap. On Feb. 16, 2013, this bright, hard-working member of our community with many promising years ahead of her passed away after a house fire in Victoria.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Georgia's family and her many friends here at UVic and in the local community. Georgia was an undergraduate student taking courses within the Faculty of Social Science, was highly engaged in issues of sustainability, actively involved in the UVic Campus Community Garden and a good friend to her fellow students.
We are a tight-knit campus community and confidential support is available during this difficult time. Counselling is available to UVic students by contacting 250-721-8341 or dropping into UVic Counselling Services on the second floor of the University Centre (Room B270). The university's Counselling Services can also arrange individual or group sessions as appropriate. UVic faculty and staff can receive counselling support through UVic's Employee and Family Assistance Plan.
Our thoughts remain with Georgia's family and friends during this most difficult time.
