First Peoples House patrons
On Nov. 14, during an honouring ceremony at UVic's First Peoples House, President David Turpin announced that Steven Point, OC, and Ms. Gwendolyn Point have agreed to serve as Patrons of First Peoples House. They were acknowledged for their many contributions, including their outstanding support and honorary patronage of First Peoples House during their vice-regal term.
"We are honoured that they will continue their relationship with the First Peoples House through their presence at special events and that they will remain engaged with our university and provide guidance and consultation as we work to enhance the profile of Indigenous education at UVic and in the broader community," says UVic President David Turpin.
As part of the Anniversary Convocation on Nov. 14, Steven Point and Gwendolyn Point also received honorary degrees from the University of Victoria.
